First Person Shooting Game Reviews

What are First Person Shooting games? First Person Shooting games or FPS as they are commonly called, are a genre of video games that centralize their game play around the weapon that a player holds. In other words, these games give you a first person view of the game play and you will see and experience things from the eye of your character in the game. A majority of these First Person shooting games are action based - so you have an objective or a set of objectives to complete and you (the character) set off on your course to achieve those objectives.
Below is my list of the best PC First Person Shooting games and a short game review:

Left 4 Dead 2
Genre(s): First Person Shooting; Action; Survival; Horror
Mode(s): Single Player; Multiplayer; Cooperative Multiplayer
Review:
Not so long ago, Left 4 dead, featured as one of the best pc games of 2008. No surprise that it's sequel has made it to the best PC games of 2009 list. Like the original, Left 4 Dead 2 is set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, and focuses on 4 survivors fighting against hordes of the infected or the undead as I would like to call them. The survivors must fight their way through levels, interspersed with safe houses that act as checkpoints, with the goal of reaching a rescue vehicle at the campaign's finale.
What makes the game challenging is the AI engine, also known as the 'director' that alters the game play based on your performance at each level. All-in-all, if you liked the original, then Left 4 dead 2 is definitely a game you MUST own.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Genre(s): First Person Shooting; Third Person Shooter; Action
Mode(s): Single Player; Multiplayer; Multiplayer Online
Review:
One of the most awaited pc games of 2009, this is the second chapter in the Modern Warfare series. Modern Warfare 2 continues the fast pace and action as players are challenged to save the world from another threat. As Sgt. Gary, you and your battalion of heroes need to fight your way to victory through various combat scenarios. The specops mode and death match mode allow players to play in cooperation with other players or take on other players.
The Call of Duty series continues to be one of the top First Person shooting games ever since they were first released.

Borderlands
Genre(s): First Person Shooting; Action; RPG
Mode(s): Single Player; Multiplayer; Multiplayer Online
Review:
The plot of Borderlands revolves around planet Pandora where everyone is eyeing a structure known as 'The Vault'. It holds unknown powers and treasures and the journey to this vault is what makes this game one of the best pc games of 2009. Borderlands also offers an extraordinary online cooperative multiplayer experience. Players have the flexibility of leaving and joining each other's games at will or even going solo at it!
Featuring life -like character animations, customizable vehicles and real time physics, Borderlands isn't so much about a large and epic storyline. But it is these effects that make this game one of the best first person shooting games of 2009.

Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising
Genre(s): First Person Shooter; Tactical Shooter; Action
Mode(s): Single Player; Single Player Co-op; Multiplayer; Multiplayer Co-op
Review:
This first person shooting, tactical military game features in my list of FPS games for it's amazing environment and backdrop setting. The maps of the mission are based on the actual terrains of Kiska (Alaska). The game takes place on the small island of Kiska, but called Skira in the game located off the north coast of Japan and is set in 2010. The island is a contested territory between 2 nations and becomes the centre of an armed conflict due to the discovery of a large oil and gas reserve. Excellent animation and a challenging game play makes Flashpoint one of the top PC first person shooting games.Read More
