Give Your Child A Beautiful Gift

It doesn't seem so long ago that we had Atari and then the original Nintendo gaming system. Video game console systems have definitely evolved and now we're faced with many choices including the Nintendo Wii. The Wii is a fantastic gaming system because it allows us to get active and play games using different controller types. Because of the nature of the Wii and how it's played, it's been a huge hit for children of all ages.

Here are a few tips on how to choose good games for your child:
  • Consider their age: This is a no-brainer. Each video game has its own rating. Obviously it's up to the parents to choose what type of games their children can play but you should consider their age. Games have different difficulty levels as well so if you choose something that's too hard for them, your child will get frustrated and stop playing.
  • Who are their favorite characters? All kids have their favorite television and movie characters. You can find games related to popular children's movies, cartoons and TV shows.
  • Try dancing or other sports games. There are a number of different dancing and sport games that will get your child up and moving around. There are games in different age groups so just make sure it's age-appropriate. Older children can easily follow along with "adult" dance party games but smaller children - such as those under 10 or so - will probably be better off with a children's dance game. This will help them learn some basic moves that they can implement more easily.
  • Read reviews online: Reading reviews from other parents or children can help you make a good decision on whether you should fork out the cash for a specific game.

As overall, chances are your family will like it too. Use reviews as a guiding tool though, don't base your decision solely on them. Finding Wii games for the younger crowd (more specifically under the age of 5) is a bit tougher, but there are actually plenty of them out there.
