All About Video Game Rentals

When it comes to renting video games a large number of individuals are making the switch to online rental sources. With an online video rental service you gain access to thousands of video games for a flat monthly fee. Whether you are into adventure games or racing games, either way, online video game rental companies will eventually put physical rental stores out of business. Prior to signing up, or joining a video game rental service, however, here is some insight that you might find helpful.

So what does it cost to sign up for an online video game rental service? There are a number of different pricing plans available, but on average, you will pay approximately $20-$25 monthly to gain access to unlimited games, and have 2 video games out at a time. Before you sign up, find out if the rental service has a free. A free trial period is the best way for you to see whether or not the service works for you. Another thing that you should know is that the vast majority of game rental services offer an introductory or "teaser" rate for the initial few months. For instance, the company might offer the subscription at half price for the first few months. This is a great way to get your feet wet so that you can decide whether or not a service like this is worth it for you. Calculate how many games you rent per month, and/or how many games you buy each year to see whether or not an online game rental subscription is in your best interest.

The next thing that you might be wondering is how it works. Well, don't worry; it's actually a very easy process. After you have signed up you will look for games that you would like to rent. Once you locate a game that you would like to try out you just click a button that adds the game to your "queue". You can add as many games as you like to your video game "queue", and you can order them in the manner that you would like as the games on the top of the list will be sent to you first. The order of your video game "queue" decides which games will be shipped to your home in the mail along with a postage paid envelope for you to send the game back in when you are done. Once the online rental service receives the game back they automatically ship you the next game in your "queue". It's that easy!

So how do I know which online video game rental company is best for me? Gamefly and Game rang are the web's most reputable online video game rental companies. Gamefly is, by far, the industry standard for online game rental companies, and is, quite honestly, very tough to compete with. A Gamefly subscription plan that allows you to have 2 games out at a time will cost you approximately $22.95 per month. The same subscription at Gamerang will cost you 2 more dollars per month. The parental controls that come standard with a Gamefly subscription make it the obvious choice for parents. Despite a user-friendly website, Gamerang's video game selection just isn't as strong as Gamefly's. Once you take all of this information into account, Gamefly seems to have the upper-hand.
